Avocado Banana Strawberry Smoothie

I’ve recently discovered and fallen in love with using avocados in my smoothies. I know it sounds really odd at first. I don’t even remember what made me try it. However, I was so pleasantly surprised with the results! Avocados are packed with healthy fats and give smoothies a very rich, creamy texture. It’s a great way to sneak them into my kids’ diets, because they turn their noses up at them otherwise. They make me miss Florida where my Mom used to bring me loads of huge, fresh avocados straight from her tree! This recipe made enough for 2 toddlers, a 6 year old, and myself.

Ingredients:

    1 large avocado
    1 banana
    4 ounces non-fat strawberry yogurt
2 cups skim milk (coconut milk would also be wonderful)
    honey to taste
    vanilla protein powder (optional)
2 or 3 ice cubes (optional)

Blend all ingredients together in your blender and enjoy! This turns out a very pretty pale green color even though it looks more yellowish in my photo.
