Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

peanutbutter_bananaI love, love, love peanut butter and banana! I think I mentioned in a previous post that I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches.  I also love smoothies.  So when I found this peanut butter and banana smoothie recipe, I thought, “Oh, this will be heaven!”  And it is.

This recipe is actually one adapted from a Prevention recipe I found.  I had to clean it up a bit, so I switched out the fat-free regular milk with soy milk.  Of course, you can use any type of milk you want – rice, almond, soy.  I also added a tablespoon of wheat germ.

My suggestion is if you try this smoothie, use it as a replacement for breakfast or lunch because it’s a bit high in calories for just a snack (appx. 430 using soy milk) and a bit high in carbs because of the banana and the honey (50 grams), although it does have 20 grams of protein.

Enjoy!

This was so yummy! I changed it a little bit… I added some leftover cooked oatmeal that I had (with raisins). No honey or wheat germ. But I added ground flax seed! Tasty :) Thanks!

this sounds delicious. Im relativly new to this game but wanted to put out there for anyone making smoothies or similar items, my awsome fiance bought a Ninja blender, Qb900b 54 is the modle num. I think it was the midsize, mid cost one they make. This thing rocks! 8 Ice cubes, snow in literally 3 seconds! Amazing! Its a great investment for those who really enjoy blended snacks or whipping ingredients, IE your “cream of veg soup”.

    Hey Derik,

Thanks for stopping by! That Ninja blender looks quite nifty. My MIL just bought me a new blender for Christmas (although my old one still works just fine), but the next time I need a blender, I think I’ll look into the Ninjas! :)
