Very Berry Smoothie

This Very Berry Smoothie is not only delicious but chock full of energy boosting nutrients.  I try to drink one of these at least twice a week to get mystrawberry_smoothie morning off to a good start.  You can use frozen strawberries and raspberries in this, which is what I do in the winter, but if you do, you may want to cut back on the ice a bit because frozen fruit seems to thicken smoothies on their own and since ice will thicken a smoothie as well, it may be too thick if you use a full cup of ice.

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups sliced strawberries, plus 2 whole strawberries (for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup low-fat or skim milk (or milk of your choosing)
  • 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. wheat germ

Directions:

  1. Combine the 1.5 cups strawberries, raspberries, and milk in blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add yogurt, ice, honey, and wheat germ to the blender and blend again until all ingredients are combined and smoothie is creamy.
  3. This recipe will make two servings, so pour smoothie into 2 glasses.  Slice the two whole strawberries in half and garnish the glasses with the sliced strawberries.
